  • 1986
    • Nick Wren forms Wren Interiors Ltd. A company set up to carry out luxury refurbishment of banks and commercial premises.
  • 1990
    • Nick joins Darchem Building Systems as London Branch Manager.
  • 1991
    • Andy Hall joins Darchem as London Sales Executive
  • 1992
    • Wren Interiors changes name to ‘Extraspace Industries Ltd’. The company provided installation services for other cabin companies.
  • 1993
    • Nick and Andy make the jump, and start working for Extraspace full time (from the front room of Nick’s house!) The company became agents for other portable building manufacturers, and started to build a small hire fleet.
  • 1994
    • Relocated to first ‘proper’ office (approx 10’ x 10’!)
  • 1995
    • Additional staff employed for administration/sales
    • Hire fleet – 28 units.
  • 1996
    • Site Foreman and crew employed, together with vehicles.
    • Hire fleet – 83 units.
  • 1997
    • Moved to larger premises, and additional depot in South London
    • Won a major contract to build a camp in the Falkland Islands
    • Won Growth Business Success Award.
    • Hire fleet – 190 units.
  • 1998
    • Company continues to grow, winning contracts in French Guyana, Mali and UK.
  • 1999
    • Moved to larger depot
  • 2000
    • Pheonix Building Systems Ltd formed to manufacture modular and jack leg units.
  • 2001
    • Won a major contract in South Korea.
    • Used the ‘TransPAK’ system manufactured in Slovenia to provide equipment housings for infa-red scanning equipment at the ports.
  • 2002
    • Design work begins on the new ‘Expanda’ range of flatpack buildings.
    • Fyberspace range commissioned.
    • Manufacturing facilities identified.
  • 2003
    • Expandastore is launched in the UK.
    • Dedicated projects division formed.
    • Project Manager appointed.
    • Extraspace Worldwide Ltd formed.
  • 2004

    • Expandakabin is launched.
    • Move to new premises imminent...
