Commissioned to build a multiple-usage building in a tight location in The
British Museum¹s grounds Extraspace provided a three storey modular building
with bespoke fit-out. The building is fully DDA compliant (disabled access,
toilets and lift), is air-conditioned throughout and meets all building
regulations.
The building houses secure accommodation for the Museum's Locksmith's
offices and production workshops, general office facilities and a separate
entrance to house cold storage rooms for caterers.
Despite being a complex building project, with multi-level alarm system and
cat 2 lighting, the design process and pre-lims took only 8 months, and a
very quick 2 month on-site installation.
The project was closely managed by Extraspace ensuring minimal disruption
during the installation stage. The extremely restrictive site access
presented a particular challenge, successfully overcome by Extraspace¹s
experience and expertise.
