“Off site” building manufacture is an ever growing method of construction in the U.K. Whether it is timber framed houses, pods for hotels or traditional modular buildings, all are taking a greater slice of the new build programmes.
The reasons this type of product are coming to the fore are many fold, they include;
* speed of construction
* lack of site skilled labour
* and naturally, cost.
Importantly though, is the industry’s acceptance of the quality, and we are no longer considered the ‘poor relation’ in construction circles.
Never wishing to compete with the large traditional cabin manufacturers Extraspace have always offered a design and build choice to our clients and end users.
We meet with our clients and form a project plan, which incorporate modern aesthetic looks with practical working environments.
Being able to include air conditioning, data cabling or alarms for instance, means that they have no other sub-contractors to worry about. This close relationship ensures that the end result meets with the clients’ requirements in every respect.
We started in the most obvious of areas, namely “sales centres”, utilising new types of materials to make a different and high profile “shop front” experience for the house building market. The same method was later used for clients who required nurseries, classrooms and offices which helped tremendously in forming final layouts and plans.
We continue to this day using very much the same blue print of working with the client – where we learn about their business and needs first – and then design the most suitable building within the clients budget. It may seem obvious and simple but it really works!
